HARPER'S WEEKLY'S HUMORS OF THE DAY
from Saturday, July 20, 1861
An Irishman called on a lady and gentleman, in whose employ he was, for the purpose of getting some tea and tobacco.
"I had a drame last night, yer honor," said he to the gentleman.
"What is it Pat?"
"Why, I dramed that yer honor made me a present of a pound of tobaccy, and her ladyship -Heaven bless her- gave me some tay for the good wife."
"Ah Pat, dreams go by the contrary you know," said the gentleman.
"Faith, and they may that," said Pat; "so her ladyship is to give the tobaccy and his honor the tay".
